Jerusalem Peace Makers

26 people from the Muslim and Christian communities of Gloucestershire visited the Holy land in 2008.

The trip included visits to the key sites in Jerusalem and to various community projects, plus to Hebron/al-Khalil where Prophet Abraham is buried and to Bethlehem. Unfortunately, the 2009 trip was dramatically terminated, but that's another story!

  • In the 'Spirit of Peace'...

The Jerusalem Peacemakers or the 'Spirit of Peace' meetings are a seperate voluntary group, however we have included a page on our site specifically for them because the Friendship Cafe is honoured to be used as the centre for these regular meetings.

The Peacemakers involves informal social meetings every two months approximately for people from different religions (or none) to get together and share a meal, usually brought in by those attending.

Speakers are regularly invited to talk about peacemaking efforts taking place in the Holy Land (Jerusalem and the neighbouring territories), and we have worked together on joint projects related to the middle east including a visit by 26 community workers to visit the Holy Land.
